Prana vayu : vyana // Ayurvedic dosha : kapha – according to Vedic astrology, but I would also say pitta
Meditation : sahasrara (crown chakra)
Both Sagittarius and the crown chakra share the color violet. They are also both associated with expansion and connection to spirit. Breathe deeply from a seated position and send your energy upward into the crown with a vibrant purple light emanating out into the cosmos. This meditation is helpful for spiritual or artistic blocks. The crown chakra is the bridge between the Self and the rest of Existence. On the back of the centaur archer, we can spiral out to new horizons and open the Self to excitement. Mind unfolds. Blast off.
Ujjayi (ocean breath)
Ujjayi is similar to the breath we use to fog a mirror, but with lips closed instead. Consciously constrict the throat and pull belly to spine with every exhale. This produces an ocean-like sound and awakens the kundalini serpent sleeping at the base of the spine. Ujjayi breath effectively regulates your practice in two ways. The soft rushing of air as it leaves the nostrils serves as a primal, rhythmic reminder to BREATHE as you move. If your practice begins to exceed your abilities, the wave-like ujjayi breath immediately changes to reflect this imbalance. First allow the consistency of the breath to carry you through your practice à la moving meditation, and then tune in so as not to miss even minor variations in this rhythm. By listening closely to our breath, we discover our optimal yogic pace.
