Solar Eclipse in Aquarius ♒ Feb 15, 2018

Thursday, Feb 15 at 12.50pm PST

Greetings earthlings. Happy new moon! Happy solar eclipse! Eclipses represent the dawning of a new age. They take us from light to darkness back to light again. They suggest, by virtue of their potency, a radical shift. Something is subsumed, transmuted.

The meaning of any solar eclipse is rebirth. In order to be reborn, we must enact the highest expression of ourselves. We must embody the most authentic, progressive version of humanity yet. Whatever does not make you feel brilliant must be forsaken.

Take sun and moon together – fire and water – and incubate them, fan their alchemical destiny. See the moon swallow the sun whole, see the wild wolf woman reclaim her throne. Welcome this vision of the new earth.

Lovers of the moon, we must be nimble and move with the wind. Say goodbye to how you think your future plans will manifest because Aquarius changes everything without notice. Here’s the message bristling in the breeze: we don’t really know what we think we know. This new moon is all about navigating circumstances beyond our control. It is time to be fearless. It is time to ask: why not? Why not change, why not make revisions to what I thought I knew? It’s not about failing to receive or losing what we have – in fact, the abrupt changes rendered by Aquarius always deliver us to more fortuitous circumstances than those we could create or imagine on our own.

Aquarius is a striking original thinker, equally gifted in the cerebral, social and creative spheres. Yet Aquarius often forgets that real freedom comes from adaptation, optimism and detachment from what we thought we knew. “Knowing” does not come from books or academic posturing or carefully crafted algorithms. True knowledge says: all is well, it always has been, and always will.

You might be wondering what is so special about Aquarius. What’s happening, what’s coming? One of the most magical things about Aquarius is that we never know until he’s here, but let me give you an idea. Aquarius is associated with travel, technology, science and living creatively. This next lunar cycle will transport you, in body or mind, to places you’ve never been before. You may take up a new technological hobby, start a podcast, get behind a camera, explore the dark web, create a website or gaze into a microscope/telescope. You may learn about sound healing, alternative medicine, genetics, holistic therapies, animal welfare or healthy living.

Here’s all you need to know: the Aquarian path is eccentric, it’s weird, it’s not “normal,” whatever that is. For this reason Aquarius is inherently exciting and revolutionary. Every Aquarian I know leads a very unique life. No Aquarian is boring, and most are exceptionally intelligent. Crack open your mind, reach out, stay connected, do something crazy. This is NOT the time to get comfortable or worship the status quo. It is your duty and privilege to BREAK OUT, BE FREE AND RUN WILD.

The day after the new moon marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year. 2018 is the year of the Earth Dog. My knowledge of Chinese Astrology does not extend beyond the basics, but if you were born in the year of the Dog (the year of your own animal is known as tai sui), this year is not considered auspicious, so all you dogs beware. Traditional Chinese advice to ward off the negative influence of tai sui includes wearing red and making an altar pointed in the cardinal direction associated with your animal.

The strongest aspect influencing the eclipse is a conjunction with Mercury in Aquarius. This is great news! Mercury rules communication, technology, intellect and all things related to the throat chakra. His energetic signature is quite similar to that of scientific Aquarius. Mercury’s presence will magnify the throat chakra’s capabilities. This is a great day to hold important conversations. Don’t be afraid to make major change in your life. The stars are with you.
